eCoC EU, submit electronic Certificates of Conformity in the UK
The VCA is mandating electronic Certificates of Conformity for all M, N and O category vehicles manufactured from 5 July 2026. eCoC EU² generates UK IVI XML files, handles digital signatures, and submits eCoC data via the VCA portal or API — so you are ready before the deadline.
Purpose-built for the VCA eCoC mandate
Navigate the UK transition from paper to electronic certificates with confidence
| Capability | e2eCoC EU2 | Manual VCA portal |
|---|---|---|
| Time to file | Minutes for a whole batch: generate, validate, sign and submit in one pass. | 30 to 45 minutes per certificate, one vehicle at a time. |
| IVI XML preparation | Valid IVI 2.0 XML generated automatically with the correct GB and UK(NI) approval authority codes. | Hand-configure the XML, or run a EUCARIS conversion tool, then edit the GB / UK(NI) references by hand in hard-to-read raw files. |
| Pre-submission validation | Built-in schema validation catches errors and guides you to the correct values before anything is sent. Incorrectly completed eCoCs are never transmitted, which prevents rejections at VCA level. Every error is caught before submission, and the wrong fields are highlighted in an easy-to-read interface so they are quick to spot and fix. | No pre-check. The VCA rejects on submission, the portal offers no in-place fix, and you reconfigure the file offline and resubmit. |
| Vehicle data entry | Automatic import of vehicle data from a VIN lookup. | Manual spreadsheet management: copy and paste data for every vehicle. |
| Edits and corrections | Fully editable records with a complete, timestamped audit trail. | Re-edit the raw XML by hand, with no audit trail of what changed or who changed it. |
| Digital signing | Seamless integrated XAdES signing as part of the flow. | A separate e-signing platform at additional licence cost and extra manual steps. |
| Cross-jurisdictional submission | Integrated with EU National Access Points for vehicles exported to the EU. | A separate manual process and a different portal for each country. |
| Audit trail and CoP compliance | Full traceable history for every certificate, ready for Conformity of Production checks. | Manual record-keeping in spreadsheets and shared drives. |
| Scalability | Bulk processing for high-volume production lines. | One certificate at a time; throughput is limited by people. |
| Cost of errors | Minimal. Most errors are caught before submission. | Each rejection means offline rework and a registration delay for that vehicle. |

VCA eCoC Portal is live: everything you need to know from the 16 June webinar
The VCA's eCoC Portal opened on 17 June 2026. Based on the official webinar the day before, we've written up the complete guide: registration steps, user roles, how to upload IVI XML, how to read submission statuses, current limitations, and what changes in August.

VCA eCoC Portal: how to register for the training webinars before go-live
The VCA's eCoC Portal goes live in the second half of June 2026 and free training webinars open on 16 June. We summarise the three webinar dates, what the Portal will and won't do at launch (it uploads signed XML — it doesn't generate it), and what UK manufacturers should be preparing upstream before go-live.

From your ERP to a signed eCoC: how eCoC EU² integrates with stage 1 and stage 2 vehicle manufacturers
The data needed for an eCoC already lives in your ERP and MES — vehicle order, VIN, type-approval numbers, masses, dimensions, options. eCoC EU² integrates directly with that stack so a finished build becomes a signed, validated eCoC in the destination national access point without anyone retyping XML.

eCoC EU² vs the Manual VCA Portal: How Much Time and Money eCoC Automation Really Saves
Submitting eCoCs by hand through the VCA portal means configuring IVI XML, fixing rejections offline, paying for a separate e-signing tool and copying vehicle data from spreadsheets. We put the manual workflow side by side with eCoC EU².

From production line to VCA submission in minutes
A streamlined four-step process that replaces paper certificates with validated digital submissions
Import vehicle data
Pull technical data from your ERP or type approval records. eCoC EU² maps it to the UK IVI XML schema automatically.
Generate & validate
The system generates a UK IVI XML file and validates it against the VCA schema. Any errors are flagged immediately for correction.
Sign digitally
Automated digital signature is applied, meeting VCA security and authenticity requirements for eCoC data.
Submit to VCA
Submit via the VCA API for automated workflows or upload through the VCA eCoC Portal. Receive confirmation and track status in real-time.
Built for the UK eCoC mandate
Everything you need to meet VCA electronic Certificate of Conformity requirements from a single platform
UK IVI XML generation
Automatically generate IVI XML files tailored to the UK schema — including GB and UK(NI) approval authority codes (g11/n11) and all required fields beyond the base EU IVI format.
VCA portal & API submission
Submit eCoC data directly through the VCA eCoC Portal or via system-to-system API integration. Both routes supported for small and large volume manufacturers alike.
Digital signatures
Automated digital signing following the same standard applied for EU eCoCs, ensuring authenticity and security of every submitted certificate.
Validation before submission
Built-in validation against the UK IVI XML schema catches errors before submission, eliminating rejection and resubmission cycles with the VCA.
Multi-stage vehicle support
Full support for multi-stage type approval workflows — coordinate eCoC data between base vehicle and completed vehicle stages seamlessly.
Dual GB & EU compliance
For manufacturers with dual-marked vehicles, generate both UK and EU eCoCs from the same data set. Only the GB eCoC needs to be submitted to the VCA for dual-marked vehicles.
eCoC, questions and answers
The essentials about electronic Certificates of Conformity and the eCoC EU² platform.
More in the knowledge baseWhat is an eCoC (electronic Certificate of Conformity)?
An eCoC is the electronic version of the Certificate of Conformity (CoC) — the document proving a vehicle matches its type approval. Instead of paper, the data is exchanged as a standardised IVI 2.0 XML file and signed electronically.
When does the eCoC become mandatory?
In the European Union the eCoC becomes mandatory from July 2026, with a transition period extended by the MVWG to 29 November 2026. In the United Kingdom the VCA introduces its own eCoC mandate for M, N and O categories the same year.
What is the IVI 2.0 XML format?
IVI 2.0 is the standardised XML format that EU countries accept eCoC data in. It defines the document structure and field set, and its validity is checked against an XSD schema before submission to the authority.
What is a National Access Point (NAP)?
A NAP is the official system a manufacturer submits signed eCoCs to. eCoC EU² sends documents directly to CEP in Poland, RDW in the Netherlands and the VCA in the United Kingdom, with status tracking.
Does eCoC EU² support multi-stage vehicles and bodybuilders?
Yes. The platform runs a three-stage workflow: base-vehicle manufacturer, bodybuilder and final review. The bodybuilder fills in their data via a secure link, with no account required.
How does eCoC EU² sign an eCoC?
eCoC EU² integrates with leading European qualified trust service providers (QTSPs), so you apply an eIDAS-compliant qualified seal or XAdES signature without leaving the browser.
